TechTalk Blog: The Death of TV and the Rise of New Technologies That Could Impact Management Accountants

Just got back from Sao Paulo, Brazil and learned more about the horrible economic situation in the country -- but baffled at the huge economic expansion of companies operating in Brazil such as Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Google and Netflix -- creating new economic zones in the largest city in North/South America. How could these companies be creating a new, growing economic zone in the country faced with such economic crisis?

Was struck by this Interesting article on “The Death of TV” and the rise of “broadband distribution bundle services” and “on-line/ on-demand services” and the rise of e-commerce marketing linked to the rise of these new technologies fundamentally changing the economic marketplace – even in Brazil.

How will these disruptive technologies impacting the world of TV affect the world of accounting/finance? Will mobile financial payment technology accelerate? Will micro-banking reaching the underserved SME marketplace in the USA and abroad? Will we see the death of stock exchanges and the rise of a new economic structure supporting the smaller business community driving the creation of new jobs and technologies for the under-banked such as crowd funding? There are more than 12 million small businesses in the USA - expanding and needing capital -- will we see a shift away from the estimated 14,000 US public companies and more of a shift to financing the more than 12 million SME companies using new technologies?
