HAPPY BIRTHDAY ATLANTA IMA!

By Donald Spears posted 11-28-2014 08:27 PM

In December (December 24th, 1930 to be exact) we celebrate the 82nd year of Atlanta IMA. As it seems that few institutions last that long, much less prosper and grow for that length of time, it's only proper that we recognize the success of YOUR chapter, which is only possible because of your dedication and all those who came before.

Back in 1930, IMA was known as the National Association of Cost Accountants ("NACM").  The name has changed to recognize our advancing understanding scope of what we know as management accounting, but the mission has never changed.  It was and is that of advocating for and representing the 75% of accounting and finance professionals that practice in industry, and advancing the profession of managerial accounting and finance.

Some other facts about your chapter:

*There are approximately 730 members (and growing)

*42% of members are CMAs, demonstrating their belief in the value of that IMA certification

*14% are dual certified, with CMAs and CPA

*8% are CPA only

*We have 15 members with between 40-50 years of continuous membership as of this year.

*The Chapter membership encompasses all different specialties of accounting and finance, as well as all levels, from Student and young professional to Manager, controller, CFO, directors, etc.  This provides unparalleled networking opportunities at IMA events.
