The Power of Networking. The Power of Friendships

by

Matt Bud, Chairman, The Financial Executives Networking Group

Matt Bud will discuss the importance of developing and maintaining a professional network.

The three most important things you can do in managing your career: Networking, networking and MORE networking. But, there are actually three kinds of networking: 1. Connecting with old friends, 2. Making new friends and 3. Introducing friends to each other. Matt will explain it all!

Since 1996 Matt has served as Chairman of The Financial Executives Networking Group (www.TheFENG.org), an organization founded in 1991 and dedicated to providing senior level financial executives with a forum to share job opportunities and experiences.

Among the first to recognize the power of the Internet as a communication tool, Matt has grown The FENG from a Westport, Connecticut based organization with only 64 members in 1996 to a current membership of over 48,000 spread across the entire United States. The FENG also boasts a significant number of International members, all connected on a daily basis through outbound email.

The FENG is the world's largest networking group of CFO's, Controllers, and Treasurers.

Organized geographically with chapters in almost every major city in the United States and international chapters in London and Toronto, members also join various “special interest groups” organized by 21 industries (e.g. Manufacturing, Construction, Professional Services, etc.) and 13 financial functions (e.g. Treasury, Tax, Internal Audit, etc.). This matrix approach maximizes each member’s networking opportunities to enhance and manage their career.

In addition to Chairing The FENG, since 1999 Matt has been a Managing Partner of The Financial Executives Consulting Group (www.TheFECG.com). The FECG is in the business of finding the very best Chief Financial Officers and Controllers for middle market companies, specializing in interim/temporary assignments as well as the recruitment of full time senior financial folks.

For 9 years Matt was Chief Financial Officer of Levine, Huntley, Schmidt & Beaver, at one time the 29th largest U.S. based Advertising Agency. Matt also has 15 years of experience in Publishing and Broadcasting; 6 years with The Thomson Corporation and 9 years with CBS, Inc., and 2 years of retailing experience with B. Altman & Company.

Matt has an MBA in Finance from New York University and a B.S. in Finance from Indiana University.
