Mentoring Mondays-10 Reasons to Encourage Fitness in the Workplace

Happy Mentoring Young Professionals!

Saturday morning at my Pilates class I asked the owner “Is this a busy time of year for your business?” She responded “No! We barely get anyone in the studio over the holidays.” I found this to be very odd. Especially since it is human nature to consume a little more during the holiday season one would think others would step up their workout routine.

This also got me thinking… “Do accountants work out more or less during the holiday season?” One would think accountants would work out more to manage the stress levels of year-end close/audit and tax season right around the corner.

Regardless of one’s role within an organization, if you are an accountant or not, I strongly feel those who work out are better leaders, better equipped to tackle challenges, and employers should encourage their employees to be fit. Please enjoy this article by Bob Doyle which highlights why employers should encourage fitness in the workplace not just around the holidays but year round: http://www.selfgrowth.com/articles/Doyle4.html

Do you agree with the article? What do you feel are the benefits of having fit employees? How do you relieve stress?

Please feel free to share your thoughts & experiences so our members can learn & grow!
