I'm looking for California specific rulings or documents that address the treatment of withdrawals from previously taxed pension and IRA accounts. The situation is that I retired from the workforce in PA and moved to California. While in PA, my contributions to a pension plan and 401k plans (now rolled over into an IRA) were subject to PA state and local income tax to the tune or a combined 4.07% tax rate. Since the contributions have already been taxed, there must be a Calif provision that addresses a deduction for withdrawals.

The CA FTB bulletin 1005 provides general guidance that leans toward any kind of similar withdrawals would require current tax. However, the examples cite States that follow the Fed treatment - no tax applied to contributions.

Are there any members familiar with the multistate taxation of personal income that would have some knowledge about the relationship between PA and CA?

If there is a more specific discussion group that might be able to address this matter, please let me know? and how to access it from the "Message Post"?
