With the interest to become a "Certified Management Accountant" the expectation is that the defined syllabus is the material, at random, of the assessment to test the skill and knowledge of the persons desiring to become a CMA.
It is most unlikely (unwise) should any candidate not to have used appropriate study material covering the whole of the syllabus, These study guides contain many 'multiple choice questions' as part of the self assessment of the topic under study.
In this context and with the aim to test 'knowledge' the questions are focused to underline the knowledge acquired. To this extent the questions would not be to confuse or trick but certainly to put aside unrelated facts included in the question to provide an element of perceived difficulty to sort out comprehsion determined within the question.
I wonder whether the 'impartiality' of the certifying body is not being compromised in the manner of 'exam' help?
