  • 1.  CMA Part 1 - Materials used to Pass

    Posted 10-28-2010 01:09 PM

I just started preparing for Part 1 of the new 2-part exam format. I passed part 3 under the old 4 exam format not long ago. I am currently using the Hock book to prepare for the exam. I did the same thing for my previous exam but found the book didn't cover all the material. I assume this is the case from what I have been reading in other posts.

For those that did pass the exam, can you provide the tools you used and the correlation to the questions on the exam.

I have a question to you , How do you know the HOCK didn't cover all the material ?

I think you make a comparison with something else !

in my mind HOCK book  cover all the material .

I just looked at the statistics on the CMA site and it shows that only 37% passed the recent Part 3 exam and around 47% passed the Part 1 exam (under the new 2 part exam).

I agree that the Hock materials are excellent. I am sure the Gleim and CMA materials are equally as good,  but it seems that there must be more to do to improve one's chance for passing - like using the Hock materials and supplementing it with the Gleim online practice exams? That is what I did to pass the Part 3 exam. I don't think I would have passed the Part 3 exam if I didn't use the Hock AND the Gleim practice questions together.

Folks, I had recently passed CMA part 3 and now focusing on CMA Part 1 2010.

My two cents are, believe no single provider, be it Hock, IMA or others are comprehensive enough to cover all to the level where one pass on first try.

To pass my CMA Part 3, I had used Hock, in addition purchased Gliem test questions, and few more stuff, however another key item which helped me pass was watching of various YouTube videos on different topics like marketing, Michael H porter, Capital budgeting and anything that I could find with in the LOS.

For my new CMA part 1, I am going to apply same strategy, i.e. use Hock study the books few times, exam success and other testing software but also use the Internet to watch various videos, lectures, websites and basically feed myself with info related to material from all angles and I am confident to pass.

    Thoughts?

I also agree that no single provider seems to have all the answers. It would be nice to see some of the vendors provide their books or materials along with collections of videos, white papers, etc to help reinforce and strengthen some of the concepts.

    Hi all,

I am preparing for CMA exam part1. Do you think that Gleim is enough to clear the CMA exam with good marks.

    Please share your experience
