  • 1.  terminating work with client company

    Hi,
I work as a consultant and not an employee.  Does any have a form template that can be used when disengaging (terminating work) with a client?
    Thanks

Perhaps not too helpful but, here goes:

Based on your agreement to the engagement determining specifically your services (apparently excluded what would happen on termination.) – reverse all of the obligations being clear what period is covered for work already done – i.e. warranty. Cliff

I use guidelines from "Aon Insurance Services" as a starting point for initiatives of this nature.  Fortunately, I have not developed a termination letter recently, but found the Aon Insurance Services guidelines to be helpful when it was necessary to terminate a client..

    thanks

Thanks.  I have Aon insurance and was able to find a sample template there.

I have been in financial accounting and auditing for 50+ years and have never seen such a template or letter.

If you want to send something, keep it simple, with wording for example, like, "This is to inform you that effective immediately I will no longer be available to perform services to your organization.  I have appreciated the opportunity to be of service to you.

    Yours truly, "

Or something similar.   The most direct and simpler the better.   This is a business communication so do not personalize it unless you really feel compelled to do so.

My concern with Roberts suggestion, 'keep it simple' is what in fact is your responsibility for the services you have provided. One point would be are you giving enough time for your client to ensure such services are in place on your departure? I would also keep in the back of your mind the future, should you wish to have further contact with this client for whatever reason – would they be willing to help? Cliff
