  • 1.  Referring To CMA On Resume

    Hi Everyone,

Does he IMA have a standard as to how to refer to the CMA designation on a resume?

The designation would certainly help my resume, but I'm not sure how it needs to be worded at the different stages of the process to obtain the CMS.

For example, I'm studyng for the tests at this moment.  Should my resume line say something like: "registered to take CMA Exam 1 in January and the second Exam in February"

After I pass the 1st Exam, I would probably change it to "Passed the CMA exam 1 in January and scheduled to take the 2nd test in February.

When I pass the second, then would I saw something lke: "Have passed both CMA exams"

Or should I just combine those lines and state "CMA Candidate"?.

The other thing is that I don't have the required work experience yet so I'm not clear as to how to refer to the CMA on my resume - CMA Candidate?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

Just put yourself as a CMA candidate if your still taking the exams i think it should be safer. Then if you can put the expected date of completion then it would be nicer. When you pass the exams but not yet complied with other requirements i think it will be better if you just put pending certication instead of using CMA in advance. ------------------------------------------- Leo Yatco CMA, CPA Accountant Sta Rosa Philippines -------------------------------------------

I like Leo's answer - CMA candidate with your expected date of completion

I'm thinking once you pass and you're waiting for years of experience, you can put "CMA Exam Passed; certification pending to meet years of experience requirement" or something to that effect, because there will be employers who may not understand what it means for pending certification

    Best of luck to you!
