    Hello guys,

Any one here preparing for October testing window? Particularly Part 1.
Let's have some discussions especially during the final week of our preparations.

    I'm currently using Gleim Reviewer.

I'm taking part 1 at the end of October. I think it's a great idea to share perspectives. I'm using Wiley for my study prep.

    Hi Sir,

I'm about to finish the Study units for part 1. Really hoping that I can finish it early for me to perform
    a lots of test drills.

As of this moment I'm really not happy with the results of my drills the past few months. It was really
hard to catch up for me. Perhaps we can share our best practices here. Whatever would that be will
    be helpful.

    Good luck to use

I'm also scheduled to take part 1 at the end of October. Would love any shared best practices. I'm using Gleim, and plan to take the week off from work leading up to the exam. I missed passing part 2 (which I took first) by the equivalent of 6 points, and I think the biggest lessons learned were: do as many cumulative reviews along the way as possible to keep the materials from earlier chapters fresh, and work on speed. Speed was definitely one of the factors that is the most difficult for me at least, and when taking the test the nerves do not help with that factor. I think practice tests are the key to nailing the speed, and it's just a matter of having enough time to take as many as possible.

    Good luck to everyone!

I've also found if there's a topic that the study materials do not cover enough in depth, there are some really great lectures here, and there are lectures for many of the CMA topics covered here.

    Hello all,

I am taking part 2 in Jan using Gleim. Regarding best practices to study, I have heard doing as many MCQs as possible really helps. I have read on forum (i.e another71.com CMA section) that reading and then doing as many MCQs as possible helps. With Gleim I am studying 2 hours a day by reading the book and watching a lecture by Amy Ford. I will basically finish by end of November and then do MCQs all of December. If anyone has had Gleim or taking the test, please feel free to share ideas. Not to volunteer Nathan, but he had some great insight for taking notes before the exam starts when they give you time.  I feel more worried that people have not passed. Please let us know what you would've changed. Thanks!

    Regards,
    Anthony Barry

    Hi Gildz,

I have not taken 1. I am taking 2 first because I heard it's easier. Have you taken any exams?

    Good morning all,

Kelli - I am using Gleim too. What do you mean by the cumulative reviews?

    Thanks

    Hi Amedee,

In Gleim, when you go to the Test Prep option, you can create practice exams and/ or study sessions that include multiple study units. It is useful to do this as often as time allows. Each time you finish a study unit, create a practice exam that includes questions from all of the previous study units. It definitely takes more time to do, but will keep the material fresh as you move forward through the latter study units.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi Kelli,

Ohhhh I see what you're saying. Instead of just doing MCQs for the chapter you finish, include the prior chapters too. That makes sense because I would totally forgot chapters from prior weeks. Good advice

    Thanks,

    Hello Kelli,

I'm sad to hear about your Part 2 results. Well, we can do it this October.

Taking off 8 days also from work a week before the exam for me to prepare.

Regarding the MCQs and essays, I was bit frustrated because there are times that I'm missing to do as
much MCQs and essays in a cumulative way due to time constraint. I just hope that I can catch up with
    my study plan.

With the Gleim review course, I change my plan by not taking the diagnostic test first. Instead, I immediately go straight to the review content then answer all the MCQs and essay after reading all
    the study units.

As of now, I'm at SU 11 already. I think what we can do now is to finish the course as early as possible for us to have a longer time the next few days(as for my case since I have a limited time of studying because of work) and proceed in time attack training for the MCQs.

Gildon, Thanks for the condolences. It was very disappointing, however I'm just going to retake it in January, and will have learned from my shortcomings on the first attempt.

I've also changed my approach similar to yours. Taking the diagnostic first seemed like a waste of time because it was mostly guessing. I already know I don't know the material yet, so it has definitely been more productive for me as well to go through the lectures and study materials first, and then take all of the section quizzes.

Good luck to all, and if there are any other tips or pointers please feel free to share!

    Kelli

Sat for the 2 papers this month (the first last week and the second today). Part 2 was really tough for me - some questions took me 3-4 minutes to complete and it was difficult to catch up on other questions. Anyway I managed to make it through to the essay questions in both papers. Hope the results will be positive.
