To my fellow members:
I just got back from San Antonio TX where I attended the IMA 2024 conference. And I must say that I’m excited about the direction the IMA is moving as well as the inspiring, insightful classes that I attended on Artificial Intelligence amongst other topics. The future is looking interesting and bright for our profession! We did have an excellent showing of the Hartford IMA members at the conference, so thank you all for attending.
I hope -you- will also be inspired to come out and attend more IMA events. Maybe for the new fiscal year, we will see some more new faces at the Hartford chapter meetings, networking etc. We certainly had a good showing at May’s meeting with the CT Real Estate topic. There were over 30 in attendance…. more like the “good ole’ days”. We also had a couple of students join us and one of them was offered a summer internship by one of our members. How’s that for a good lesson in networking?! And, at least this past fiscal year, we did still offer students free attendance to encourage them to come out and mingle with the professionals.
Hopefully everyone is having a great summer season. I have had some time to relax and vacation which has also given me time to reflect on my incoming third year as president. We certainly did accomplish a lot, including increased networking events and coming together as a group for a fun and feel-good charitable event. We expect to plan in more such events.
We also recently elected board members for 2024-25, but… we can certainly still make room for newcomers (or past Board members) to rejoin us. Just email Hartford@IMAChapter.org If interested, do consider attending our next virtual board meeting on July 10th; we will continue our summer planning. We are formalizing the new fiscal year program (topics, speakers, networking, plant tours, venues, etc). Don’t be shy…. come out and share your ideas!!
