President's Message

To my fellow members:

I was very happy to experience two exciting student-based events in the last week.  I attended the IMA NERC Student Leadership event in Newport where some amazing professionals were asked compelling questions about their career paths and imparted years of wisdom/advice to our up and coming young professionals.  Equally exciting was attending and hearing from NABA Scholarship recipients.  IMA Global and NABA have a formal partnership.  I was happy to see several IMA Hartford members at these well organized events, in support of the students.

Next month, we are closing in on the end of another successful fiscal year program.  And, of course, we are looking to plan next year’s programs and want to ensure we offer robust options for all our members.  So, we are sincerely looking for some volunteers, new and old, to step in and help guide us with some forward thinking and thoughtful planning.  Whether you are on our Board or not, please consider making this the year that you help out colleagues, those you’ve met and those who may be future IMA friends.  Increased participation is the way we hope to sustain a high level of positive, professional engagement amongst our professionals.

We will be providing details on our summer planning dates and adding this onto our events on the website so folks can register online and we will know who to expect at our meet-ups, whether onsite or virtual.  We will be brainstorming topics and activities of interest.  We will also network with fellow members and may enjoying some food together, when onsite.

We have a very exciting in person event scheduled on Tuesday, May 21st . This is a new topic for us and a particularly important one, discussing the trends and challenges in the real estate market in our region.  It’s a good opportunity to meet key influencer and head of CohnReznick’s Hartford office, Melissa Ferrucci.  Come and see what you can learn and take back to your respective firms when planning out strategies, expansions, relocations for both businesses and personnel.  We will also be at a new venue for us, Butchers and Bakers in Farmington, CT.   I’m always disappointed for those members who missed out; so don’t, join in!

Just a reminder of some important dates to mark on your calendars as well:

§  May 15,  Cybercriminals use AI, Will You?”,  Virtual:  Joint Providence/Hartford On24 webinar

§  May 21, “Emerging Trends & Challenges in Real Estate”, Butchers & Bakers, Farmington, CT

§  June 9-12 IMA Global Conference, San Antonio, TX

§  Sep 15-17, IMA NERC Conference, Ashworth by the Sea, Hampton Beach, NH

If you have any topic or event ideas for next year that you’d like to share, please don’t hesitate to reach out by email at Hartford@IMAChapter.org.
