Financial Innovation by Mr. Jeff Thomson Held in Riyadh
Playing our role as a specialized institution, Riyadh chapter of the Institute of Management Accountants, organized CPD event by Mr. Jeff Thomson at Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Riyadh on 16th May 2017. The topic of event was “Financial Innovation.” The Chief Guest on the occasion was Mr. Jeff Thomson, CEO Institute of Management Accountants, USA. Other guests included President IMA Riyadh chapter and High officials from Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Presenting on the event, the presenter unfolded various aspects of innovation and its relevance with the Saudi Vision 2030 since the innovation strategies are developing in USA and across the world.
Trend in USA of appointing “Futurists” and “Chief Innovation Officers” is increasing as said by Mr. Jeff Thomson. It was also acknowledged that innovation, out of box thinking and envisioning can lead an individual and organization to be in a competitive edge in the current era and are the part and parcel of success. Innovation is vital to foster the spirt of sharing and learning, especially in the canvass of opportunities that Vision 2030 has blessed, which will bring increased economic prosperity to Saudi Arabia. It was also highlighted that the Vision 2030 poses a big challenge for the Finance Professionals and hoped that they will meet the expectations gracefully by specializing and diversifying their educations and professional skills through innovation in respective domains.
Due to interesting nature of the topic, great ideas and thoughts were received from among the audience. Audience also acknowledged and aspired that such futuristic and modern topics are very much required by the society and such events should regularly be held.
The event was attended by over 187 accountancy professionals; among them were business leaders, CEO’s and CFO’s of leading corporates, senior managers of audit firms, CMAs, SOCPA members and a large galaxy of IMA members.
The event ended with a note of thanks to Mr. Jeff Thomson for coming all the way from USA for presenting such a nice even, moreover IMA Riyadh chapter acknowledged its special thanks to Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry for hosting the event.
